In 1992, there was a movie released entitled, “White Men Can’t Jump”, starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.  It played into and made fun of certain stereotypes about different races’ ability to play to basketball.  The movie ends up squashing those stereotypes to show that you can’t judge a book by its cover, and that anyone can be a good athlete if they put their mind to it, and they are passionate enough to make achievements in a sport. This is the message of the Jump Manual. This book does not stipulate that you have to be a certain age or race, or have specific physical attributes to achieve what you are training to achieve.  It merely emphasizes that you have to work to achieve your jump manual goals and be diligent while doing so.  So, while we may get a good laugh from movies with over-the-top titles, there is no basis for the presumption that white men can’t jump, and we should continually challenge ourselves to beat those stereotypes.
